The "NRITHYATHI KALAKSHETRAM" was founded nearly two decades ago and has been grooming dancers of the future, promoting traditional Indian dance forms and provides instruction in Bharatnatyam, Kuchippudi and Mohiniattam.
The school had made a humble beginning with two students getting enrolled in the first year and currently more than 500 students are receiving lessons on the ancient dance form. Today the school is registered with ‘Sports and Recreation Department; Bhilai Steel Plant’, Chattishgarh Government.
The School is renowned for emphasizing on the basics and theory behind this dance form by conducting regular workshops both by the director and famous visiting artists. Students of this school graduate by performing their Arangetrams after undergoing rigorous training in three main levels namely basics and theory, introduction to items and finally expertise in Abhinaya & Nattuvangam. Creativity is encouraged by allowing students to provide ideas and choreograph items of their own.
The founder director of the "NRITHYATHI KALAKSHETRAM" is Natya Choodamani, Nrityaavibhoshan Shri G. Ratheesh Babu who is the disciple of Kalaimamani Padmashri Adayar K. Laxman; Chennai. He is a highly acclaimed and renowned dancer, who continues to be totally involved in the art both as a teacher and a performer. He has displayed his immense talent by performing in all major Sabhas and festival in India and abroad. A graceful and gifted dancer, Ratheesh Babu is a classicist in the field of Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam as a dancer, teacher and choreographer.
